Project type

Design Research

Date

April 2022

Location

Bloomington, IN

This design research project focused on exploring the emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on university students. The project culminated in an infographic that highlighted the emotional themes experienced by students during the pandemic, including Rage, Distracted, Alienated, Hesitant, Open, Vigilant, Joy, Skeptical, Energetic, Boredom, and Question.

The infographic delved into various emotions experienced by students, such as anger and frustration due to the actions of others during the pandemic. The project also examined how online learning has created distractions for students, leading to decreased attention in classes. The pandemic has also made it easy to feel alienated from peers, with social distancing and other regulations affecting student interactions.

The project also highlighted how the pandemic has made students more hesitant about change, leading to anxiety and nerves about being in person. However, it has also made students more open to change, leading to new experiences and a shift in their perception of joy. The project also explored how students coped with boredom during the pandemic, as well as their perception of health and energy.

Overall, the project highlighted the various emotions experienced by students during the pandemic and how it has affected their academic and personal lives. It emphasized the importance of being vigilant and staying informed about the pandemic while also coping with the emotional toll it has taken.
