What's The Move: A Nightlife App To Keep You Safe

Location

Bloomington, IN

Date

December, 2022

Project type

UI/UX

Our aim was to address the safety concerns that women often face when attending bars or parties. We were motivated by the fact that several people we knew, including both females in our group, had experienced uncomfortable situations that made them worry about their safety. Our solution to this problem was to create an app that would help ensure the safety of people when they go out.

Our design process consisted of a lot of gathering data from as
many people as possible so that we could gain as much insight into the issues people have in Bloomington. We sought out information regarding nightlife and what one can do when they are bored or are seeking more information. Our group handled the feedback in a manner that would organize the data and allow us to assess what needs to be done. A major aspect of our design process that was determined through our morals, was that we would take everyone’s opinion into consideration, even if they were the only ones with such an opinion. We made sure throughout the whole design process that everyone’s voices
were heard and taken into consideration, even if it added more time to the prototyping.

As designers who have learned quite a lot about the power within the design realm, it was important for us to remember our users and how they will interact with our product. We had to remember to empathize with our future users as it is a fundamental aspect of our final design. We made sure to consider our position as designers within the realm of justice so that we can assure we meet the requirements set by our data. Our team made sure to consider our morals when designing our app, such morals include inclusivity, implementing human-centered design, as well as doing competitive analysis.
